Tim is a hacker, physicist and PhD student, he likes nice food.

In June 2008 I graduated from The University of Manchester with a "Master of Physics" degree. In September 2008 I started a PhD in experimental particle physics. I investigate the properties of the top quark, the heaviest fundamental particle in nature. Currently I am working on the Dzero experiment at Fermilab near Chicago.

I like programming in Python, reading, playing Korfball, riding my MotorBike, drinking coffee, spending time with my friends and cooking!

Currently I am at Fermilab.

Previously ...

For our Masters project Tom, my lab partner, and I worked with the ManchesterUniversity SuperNemo group on building a cheap 3D tracker for charged particles. This work is for my Master's thesis. For more details see: Manchester group and Nemo collaboration. Investigation of Geiger cell prototypes for the SuperNEMO detector, our joint thesis.

I spent the Summer2007 in Geneva working at CERN as a Summer Student. I worked on software for the Beam Timing Experiment, which is part of ATLAS. There are more details on Summer2007, explaining what I did and what the Beam Timing Experiment is.

During the two previous summers I worked for in the "on board software" group at SciSys Ltd.. The first time round(summer 2005) I coded a tool to expand #ifdef and other preprocessor statements. During my second summer(2006 this time) I wrote lots and lots of unit tests for the on board software of the Aeolus spacecraft.

I spent the first 20 years of my life in a town near Frankfurt in Germany. When the time to go to University came I decided it would be a great idea to go to ManchesterUniversity, which is in England. Having completed my Masters degree I have yet to regret this move.

== About This Website== To find out have a look at TimTimWiki. This is a wiki/blog/source repository for most of the ideas I have, I was looking for a place where I can jot them down so I can come back when uni is less demanding on my time. Most of the stuff here will either be in 'planning' or 'proof-of-concept' stages, do not expect anything finished,]]
